We use 304 (18-8) anodized stainless steel screws for our CQs. It was brought to our attention that these were magnetic and therefore not stainless. We test our screws for magnetism, but we accept a small amount of magnetism as part of the screw maching process. Nevertheless, we checked with our vendor about this. Apparently the “stainless is not magnetic” is an old wifes tale. Some stainless is more magnetic than others, and generally its all a lot less magnetic than steel, but when its worked as in made into a screw, it becomes slightly magnetic. Thus a stainless screw like ours will have a smal attraction, but not the fastness that a steel screw will have to a magnet. 304 has excellent corrosion resistance, so its ideal for our application. Lots on this on the internet, look up 304 stainless steel properties if you are interested.
