Here is a customer that purchased at Home Depot question, answer, and result concerning her roofers comments about the screws

I ordered 2 critter quitters for my new roof. The roof said screwing them into the pipe is not a good idea as it will cause leakage.
Is there another way to attach them? Glue?
Please advise.

The screws will not cause any leaks. The screws are self-tapping and very small, so when you install the unit, the screws will fill the hole in the unit and then seat themselves through the lead and PVC. The body of the screw fills the hole, so there is no way they can leak. We have near 50,000 in the field installed by large companies and there is no report of any leakage. So don’t worry about this. Also they are designed to be able to be removed if a plumber needs access to your vent, so we don’t recommend any glue.
