Actually, the lead that a squirrel chews does not kill them, unless it cuts them up inside when they swallow it. The lead is insoluble, meaning it doesn’t dissolve in water. Thus, it simply passes through them. Its similar to the old-fashioned mercury thermometers (nobody under the age of 60 knows that those are.) The mercury in them would expand to indicate temperature. If you broke one and swallowed the mercury it would simply pass though you with no harm because it was insoluble. Of course, many people wish the lead would do something lethal to the squirrel, but that’s what Critter Quitters are for. No need to harm our little friends that play an important role in nature. Just protect your vents with Critter Quitters and let the little things jump around doing what they do.
