Chicken Wire

People have written us and said they use chicken wire or some prepackaged vent screens to protect their vents. Those are fine for new construction. But remember, Critter Quitters are designed to stop damaged vents from leakage. A screen will not stop a leak. So if you have a damaged vent a critter quitter will stop the leak until you reroof. Also for new construction a critter quitter looks better than chicken wire and, more importantly, extends the entire length of the vent. A lot of screens dont, and if a squirrel chews the vent at the base you have a major leak.
So consider Critter Quitters if you have damaged vents, or if you want a better, more professional looking solution.
