Proof of Critter Quitter Resistance to Chewing
We rarely get any reports of a Critter Quitter being chewed. Squirrels don’t find any benefit in chewing on one. However, every now and then we get a report of a chewing, usually from something other than a squirrel
Thanks to Superior Wildlife in Gainesville Florida, which is one of our installers, we got these pictures of a Critter Quitter that been chewed on. As you can see, the design of the Critter Quitter kept the unit intact and still functioning. We make the top of the unit thicker than the rest as most chewing will start at the top. We are happy to see this design feature has worked as planned.
We cannot state why this particular vent is being chewed. Others in the area are not being attacked, which leads us to believe it’s probably the vent gasses are attracting something other than a squirrel. Rats are drawn to sewer gasses, which plumbing vents are designed to release to atmosphere. We would speculate this is most likely a rat chew rather than a squirrel.
Regardless, the proof of a Critter Quitters resistance to chewing is good to see.
