A quick reminder of what a roof pitch is. The roof pitch is the number of inches a roof rises for 12 inches of horizontal distance. So if a roof rises 6 inches after 12 inches of horizontal distance, it has a pitch number of 6. If it doesn’t rise at all, in other words its flat, then its a 0 pitch. If it goes up 12 inches after 12 inches of horizontal distance, then the pitch is 12, or 45 degrees, quite steep. Most homes that use lead flashing are between 4 and 8 pitch with 6 pitch being a good average.
There are apps that can be downloaded to a smart phone such as pitch gauge that let you simply line your phone up with the roof and it will tell you the pitch.
