An interesting question has arisen. When squirrels eat the lead flashing, do they die from lead poisoning? Well, admittedly there isnt a lot of research on this, but I would speculate they dont depending upon the lead quality. Lead has to be soluble, ie, dissolve in water. Most lead is not, so it simpy passes through. Some alloys may, which also explains the streaking you see on some roofs but not others. Of course, the other type of lead poisoning, ie shooting them, is usually fatal but frowned upon by both city and neighbor. Better to simply install some vent shields and solve the problem.
