This is what a chewed up vent looks like
You may not be able to see it from the ground, but from the top you can see how the lead has been chewed off and there is now a gap between the lead and the outside of the vent pipe. This allows rain to fall directly into the decking of the roof and start to rot it....

Its really hot down here in the South, especially here in Florida. Florida is miserable in the summer. If you are thinking about moving here from the North, best come down July or August. One good thing is that the frogs are dormant, so no jumping around into vents...
